Importance of (PGT) Pre Genetic Diagnostic Testing

Introduction

Genetic abnormalities are the term that haunts couples who are concerned about their future baby. Diagnosis of such abnormalities and eliminating the risk or reducing the risk of spreading a genetic disease can be possible via PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis). It is a technique used for the identification of genetic defects in the embryos which were produced in the lab via IVF. It is done before embryos are implanted into the uterus. PGD is advised for couples whose either one or both partners have any genetic defects. Since diagnostic procedures like amniocentesis or Chorionic villus testing may have unfavorable results which may lead to taking harsh steps such as pregnancy termination. Hence, currently, PGD and PGS is a better technique that helps in avoiding having a child with genetic defects.
